Ok, our Annual trip to Vegas is done! What a trip it was! Our Ladies Pool Team "Sweetshots" placed 5th in Nationals and yes, we did place in the $$$!!! WOOHOO!!!! We did Awesome!!! We did stayed in the Winners Bracket all day the 1st day of the Tournament and then got knocked into the Loser's bracket the 2nd day and held tight the 2nd match and lost out 10-8 on the final match. It was tough, but I'm so very proud of the Team and it was a great week!!! It was the first year ever that myself and another teammate entered the Singles Event and did well in that as well - got to the "hill" match which means it was a race to 4 and it was 3-3 and then I blocked myself on the 8-ball behind her ball and couldn't get to the 8-ball so she won. She even told me that I should've won, and of course I agreed. lol.
Now that Vegas is out of the way, it is time for Wedding Plans and I kinda freaked out on Justin last night and had my first actual break down. ;o( I think it is just that he is so far away and it hit me that it is creeping up fast, although all the plans are falling nicely together. Melissa and I are going to sign contract and cake taste testing tomorrow so I can vent more with her and she and the girls are being very helpful so it will all work out just fine. I am just ready to be with Justin everyday. ;o)

BIG NEWS!!
In case you haven't heard - Justin PROPOSED!!!
Justin flew me out to Georgia over Memorial Day weekend and on Saturday, 05-24 in McDonough, GA I was asked to be his wife, and obviously I said YES!! During the weekend, I met my future in-laws, including Mom, Dad, Stepmom & 2 sets of Grandparents along with Aunts and Uncles & many cousins. Let's not forget meeting Donnie, Justin's best friend and to be Best Man. Donnie and his wife, me & Justin went out on Saturday evening and went bowling, what a fun celebration!
It was a quick trip and filled with ALOT of family and fun and hopefully I can remember everyone's names the next time that I see them, but I think they'll understand if not, it was an awful lot to squeeze into 2 short days.
In sharing the news with Mom & Dad, Justin did forget to call and ask Dad's permission but immediately did so after he proposed. I'm under the impression that Dad has a list of questions about the future plans, but did give his Blessing to the marriage. Mom had to keep quiet from the Family until I shared with everyone once back in TX. She did good to keep it in, but I know it was killing her. lol.
The Wedding is to be in Dallas, TX - however, the date that we want of October 4th (10-4) is still to be confirmed with the NCO's of Justin's unit to make sure he is able to get that time off. If not, we will have to accomodate when they allow him to take a pass to be Married.
Grandpa Addison said that the Army will advise Justin that "they did not issue a wife" to him. ;o)
Hopefully, they will allow this to happen with our plans, but will rearrange if necessary to make it work, because I guess Justin will need to be present at the Ceremony, right? lol

Nature Park
My neighbor, Bob, told me about a Nature Park in Plano where I could take Murphy for a walk - so we decided to go there this past weekend and see what it was all about.
This place is called Arbor Hills Nature Park and is really cool, so many people go there with their dogs and/or kids and there are so many sidewalk trails and bike trails. It has trails going thru the woods and reminds me of being at my parents up at the Lake. It was so relaxing just walking with Murphy and forgetting that we were still in the City. Plus Murphy was sitting there at a creek and some cute blonde lab comes up and just started giving him kisses, he really didn't know what to know (and didn't seem to mind either). Her name was Amber, I think he secretly kept looking for her the rest of the day. We watched a big black lab fetch bouys into the creek and even bring it back to his master! I asked Murphy if he wanted to learn that trick, but he looked and me and kinda cocked his head like I was crazy - way too much energy that would take for both of us too learn. So we just went on about our business, trying to find Amber. lol.
This Nature Park is so pretty and peaceful, even with dogs and kids, there is a playground for the kids - and I swear we didn't cover 1/3 of the trails and we were ready to go home. And, once we got home, Murphy was so tired I don't think he could lift his head to see where I was he was so plumb tuckered!!! Oh, but we will venture there again soon, it's too good to pass up! It's like being at The Ozarks but Here at Home

Life is Short
Yesterday I attended a Funeral of a Co-worker (49 yrs old), she was diagnosed with Cancer in February of 2007 and passed away on 04-17-08. It really got me to thinking on how precious Life is and that it should not be taken for granted. Debbie's son, Bobby gave a very touching Eulogy and the thing is that it was not all mushy, it was just about her and how she would have wondered why everyone was looking at her in her coffin like "what are you looking at?" lol. It was nice to laugh at a Funeral, it made me think of "Bebo" and once again, I smiled, and cried. Debbie was such an honest person with her emotions and really told it how it was, she took the Cancer news with all that she had and fought it with all that she had until it just got to be too much for her body to handle - she became so frail and finally signed the DNR papers with her 4th battle with pneumonia and decided it was her time to go be with the Lord. And, as Bobby said yesterday, it was time for Death. He said she went peacefully and was time for no more pain. I really reflected on alot that he said last night, it made me realize that so much in life is taken for granted - Debbie was so ready to go that she even marked up her favorite passages in her Bible, how Awesome is that? She book marked and underlined pages to be read by the next person, and it was! It was about not being scared about Death and going to be with God. I've never been more Proud of her and impressed with her then I was at her Funeral, how weird is that? I felt more at peace for her after leaving but did cry myself into a migraine, but I don't know if it was for sadness or happiness for where she is now? ;o) She will be missed by many.

Sweetshots
You will see alot of pics/comments about the "Sweetshots" - this is our Women's Pool Team (7 members) that travel to State (TX) and National (Las Vegas) 8-Ball Championship Tournaments every year. We all play in our local league here in Dallas together, but on seperate teams, but when it comes time for the State & National Tournaments we come together.
We have been trained well by our "Team Mentor", Janet Ybarra who has taught us how to hold Fundraiser Tournaments prior to the entry date and sell Raffle Tickets for various prizes (pool cues, etc.) Janet recruited Tammy and I about 4 years ago on her traveling team, and I replied back to her asking if I was needed for Comic Relief as I did not feel my game was good enough for these type of tournaments. However, the end result was that these tournaments helped me step up my game and play a much smarter game. I've learned more about the skill of the game and not necessarily the win (although I do accidentally win every now and again). After our "Hard 2 Handle" team took 4th in Nationals in 2006 Janet had too many girls wanting to join her team and travel with us, this is when Tammy and I decided to step back and form "Sweet Shots" - this way Janet wouldn't have to worry about us and having to keep alot of women happy with playing everyone (hard task).
We refer to Hard 2 Handle as our Sister Team from the "OC" - which is a South Dallas area called Oak Cliff - we still are tight with these gals and see them often, especially at these tournaments and eachother's fundraiser events.
One of my good friends, Hratch owns his own Limo Company now "Rock-Star Limos" and each year he has been so kind as to donate 2 hrs of free service (Lincoln Limo & '07 Hummer Stretch) to help with our Raffle sales and to raise money. This year, out of recognition to him and his generousity, we presented him with a Plaque Thanking Him for all of his kindness!
We just finished our Fundraiser for Vegas '08 and will send entry in this week - we leave this year for Vegas the week of June 8-14 and hope to come back with some $$$ (and from pool too) ;o)

Pets
It sure does seem like the past year has not been a good one for me with the luck of Pets - referring to Berkeley being lost up at Lake of the Ozarks (no news on him as of late), I just really think someone got themselves a Good Dog! I gotta think that they needed him more than me, however that is possible.
As for Ginger, she was getting old but She was raised by Bailey - for those of you that remember her, she was my first Chow and she was AWESOME! She passed about 5 years ago due to cardiac arrest and I had to wait awhile before I even got Berk. So, Ginger was raised by a dog, and in turn acted like a dog. When I got Berkeley, he was raised by Ginger, thus giving him the characteristics of her as well as just being an all round friendly dog.
After the horrible loss of Berkeley during the Ice Storm in '06 I really didn't think I could get another dog for some time, but the house was terribly quiet without one. He will NEVER be replaced, but Murphy is a welcomed addition.
Murphy is a German Shephard Mix (vet thinks Elk Hound or Wolf mix) and also raised by Ginger - I think he actually thinks he is a cat, he likes to get on the back of the couch and sleep with his head up on the pillow with me in bed (like Ginger did).
Murphy and I are getting along just fine these days, although, he is still a pup (although getting big) and I gotta give that extra TLC when I'm with him since he doesn't have that playmate during the day anymore. We'll get thru this together!

Justin
Justin is now at Fort Bragg, NC & is Loving the Army! Everytime we talk (or text) he is learning something new and exciting and can't wait to tell me about it. I am so Proud of all that he has done and continues to do in Serving Our Country and making a career out of it as well. He has transformed his life around so much in the past year it is remarkable - I have included some of his pics that he has sent me with his Airborne Patch - how sharp is that?!
He has been told that they will be deployed at the end of the year to Afghanastan (sp?) and he is more than anxious about this news, but I gotta tell ya I'm a little nervous. Although they will be with the 82nd Airborne and very well trained, it still is War and reality is hitting close to home now. But, I gotta believe in the cause and the Troops and Support both as I have thus far - Hooah!
